Helen Melvin
from Ormond Beach, Florida USA

I'm an editor and writer who's tackled everything from editing doctoral research papers to writing step-by-step instructions for computer novices. Professionally my greatest strength lies in editing, though I continue to do some writing occasionally. Here are a few of my more noteworthy accomplishments:

  • edited several applied research proposals for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University faculty members who are pursuing doctorates
  • edited college-level textbooks and course materials
  • wrote and edited manuals for various software products
  • wrote computer columns targeted toward the novice for Daytona Today Magazine
  • wrote technical paper, Using dBASE III+ to Enhance Off-Campus Library Services (Helen Melvin Ericksen and Rodney Young. Presented at the Integrated Online Library Systems National Online Meeting, NYC, 1990)

I'm currently an Administrator in the Computer Support Department at the Extended Campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. (Whew! Try to fit that on a form!) I provide end user software support and manage our Web server. Our Web site will be undergoing redevelopment over the next year, which will be a terrific learning opportunity for me.

In my spare time, I put away my editor's cap and allow my inner writer to emerge. Creative writing is a cherished hobby and my key to the imagination. I particularly enjoy chronicling the wildly meandrous journeys of my unfettered mind. I never know where my brain will take me, but it's always a fascinating experience!

You're welcome to visit my homepage. Not much to see yet, but come back for a visit later! Who knows what the cats and I will have dreamed up by then?
